About Peruvian Candy Opal:This stone is firstmined in Peru, then sent to India by ship where it is cut and polished into beads. Unlike Ethiopian opal, this opal is very hard and opaque white. It has become very popular to dye it fun colors to resemble the candy necklacesof 1980s and 1990s nostalgia.

These beads are hand dyed and have variation in their color which contributes to the artisanal nature. In some rare instances crocking might occur where the dye might rub off slightly (usually caused by moisture from water or sweat).
